Top seven things to do when you’re bored looking for a job!

28 Jul

#7   Challenge each other in online typing test to make CVs read more appealing (Mel won! 75wpm vs 52wpm to Matt, oh yeah!)

#6   Ditch computer altogether and go downstairs and hang out with equally bored and frustrated housemates who are looking for a new house.

#5   Watch three episodes of Friends in a row with said housemates.

#4   Run down to the high street to stock up on chocolate bars to re-energize enthusiasm for looking for jobs.

#3   Eat said chocolates bars while watching Friends.

#2   Distract yourself by reading the travel section of TNT Magazine and day dreaming about jumping on a place to Europe later that day.

#1   Remind yourself that to get on said plane, you need a job!

In one of my lectures the other day, I think it was Innovation, the lecturer told us about a friend of his who came up with a really interesting way of getting a job.. He bought out Google AdWords advertising himself.
Basically he narrowed down three or four particular companies/people and bought the rights to advertise himself and his CV for whenever the company/person was Googled (as he figured their management would probably Google themselves often!). As he was only charged a few cents everytime his ad was clicked on, it ended up costing him only a few bucks in total.. And he got the job!
    Possibility? : )
